Duncan Owen
Global Head of Real Estate, Schroder Real Estate Investment Management
Duncan Owen joined Schroders in January 2012 and is the Global Head of Real Estate. The role has responsibility for providing leadership and developing the growth strategy of the business as well as its investment direction. He chairs Real Estate Investment Committee and SREIM board, as well as a member of the Real Estate Global Indirect Investment Committee. He is also the lead manager for Schroder REIT.
Duncan was CEO of Invista Plc from 2006 to 2012, which involved setting the strategy and growth of the listed company. Invista was formed from the Fund Management business of Insight Investment Management Limited.
He joined Insight in 2003 following its acquisition of Gatehouse Investment Management, the real estate investment management boutique which he co-founded. He was a main board director at Insight Investment from 2003 to 2006 and was Head of Alternative Investments, responsible for driving the strategy and growth of the business.
He was a Partner at Jones Lang LaSalle from 1990 to 2000, which involved Pan-European real estate fund management.
Duncan has over 25 years of Real Estate experience, has a degree from Sheffield City University, is a qualified chartered surveyor. He studied at Insead Business School and is an FCA approved person. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and British Property Federation’s Policy Committee. He is the Non-Executive Chairman of Monument Asset Management. He is also a Non-Executive member of the Church of England Board and Asset Committee.
